I think that you have had bad luck. The chinese motor doesn't usually break like that. In broad terms, it is 1/2 the motor for 1/3rd the price. Nonetheless, you may want to look at ARCO due to your location. Most of Florida has that brown water caused by tanin. Tanin is mildly acidic and makes even our freshwater slightly conductive to electricity. Because of this you are fighting aluminum corrosion every time that your boat hits the water. As such, the Mercury and Arco trim motors are probably worth the investment. Chinese motors don't have SS bolts and washers. They do have cheap gaskets and thin paint. In candian glacier water it doesn't make much difference. In Florida swamp water it makes a huge difference.

Thanks RRitt, The lakes I fish in north Florida are very brown, 3-4 inches of visibility on a good day. So your saying Arco is a better quality? I do not mind paying 250-400 if it will last me 3-4 years, but 150 X 2 in a 6-8 month period and the hassle to change it just is not worth it.
