Tilt and Trim not working on 2000 Merc 200HP

I have tried both the switch on the motor and the switch on the throtle and the motor will not go up or down.

What can I look for?

Easy, hard?

Cheap, expensive?

Could be elctrical,could be pump motor.First check battery is charged/on....dont laugh.When you push button can you hear trim motor running or trim solenoid clicking at engine?If trim motor running you have a pump issue.Check for leaks and refil fluids.

I just had this problem with my 2005 Merc 90. My pump motor is on the outboard bracket Im not sure if yours is but, I could hear the relays clicking but nothing was happing. I took the Pump motor off and found water intrusion, it was all corroded. I replaced it and it works fine. On a side note dont go cheep on the motor. I did and in 6 months I was replacing again for the same thing. Water leaked in where the wires go in to the pump motor. The only after market pump motor I trust now Is by Arco($250) they are less expensive than the mercury one($480) but built to the same standards. Hope this helps.
