Tilt and Trim Question

My boat has an aftermarket tilt and trim. The maker on the side is CMC. There is one switch at the front of the boat, but none on the back. I would think that I could splice into the wires going back to the unit and add a switch so that I could use it from the rear of the boat. Anyone know how I could make this happen?

Thanks

Re: Tilt and Trim Question

The simple answer is yes you can. There are aftermarket trim switches just for this purpose. Do a search here for "trim switch" and see what comes up. This has been discussed on these forums before. What you do is wire the new switch in parallel with the existing switch wiring. The trick is to find a suitable location to tap into the existing wiring.

Re: Tilt and Trim Question

David -

Real easy. buy a 3 way switch that clicks back to the center.

There are 3 control wires coming off the harness for the CMC T&T unit, one is brown, then a green and blue wire.

The brown wire goes in the middle of the switch, and then the blue and green go on the other sides of the switch. that will control the movement.

I just bought one of these and tapped it into the Merc's control box tilt & trim switch, and then routed the other switch on the back of the boat.

Hope this helps!
