tilt and trim senders

does anybody know what year they started using trim senders on the gimbal housing.i was looking at a housing on a junk boat for sale .they said it was a 84 but there was no senders.looked the same otherwise.something must sense the outdrive position.thank u in advance

If your talking Mercrusier.. I believe it was 1983.<br /><br />Also if your talking about trim position sensor, It was a option. If it was not installed the cover and wires thru the transom would be their but not the sensor.

What brand of drive are you talking about? Also, you'll likely get a better response if you post this in the Mercruiser/OMC/Volvo repair section.

sorry,its a mercruiser.i am trying to find a gimbal housing for mine.its a 86 mercruiser and the bearing blew up and ruined the housing.i bought it that way.this boat is a 84 and it looks different.
