tilt cover o ring

72 omc sterndrive electric shift.
I purchased a gasket kit for the tilt cover, where does the large o ring go.

From the size of it I would assume that it was for a different style clutch pack cover, but I couldn't find any reference to it in my service manual.

I'm not finding anything either ... is it the size of the cover or more like the shaft that goes through the pack?

On the 76 i had has a oil ring around the cover,right beside the gasket
