Our boat has a fiberglass deck that extends off the back. When the outdrive(Merc) is raised all the way up it hits the bottom of this deck. When we got the boat it already had a groove carved in the gelcoat where it had been rubbing during trailering. I see adjustment knob things on the sides of the outdrive that I assume are adjustment for the tilt/trim limit?? I can move the knob thingies all the way but it does not limit the up travel of the lower unit. Is there something I'm missing here or is the travel limit just not adjustable enough to go that low?? Any ideas??

BTW...I made a nice little stainless steel plate and stuck it over the groove to keep it from getting any worse. But I'd still like to limit the up travel if there is a way to do it.

Thanks for any help!!!

[edit] OK just did a search and maybe learned a couple of things. I assume one side tells the trim gauge where the lower unit is and the other side is the actual trim limit switch?? Also there is a separate "trailer" switch to raise the lower unit when the engine is off. So I guess my new question is....does the limit switch work with the "trailer" button to limit total up travel or is this only for total "trim" limit while running?? If this is the case, is there a way to limit the total up tilt(when using the "trailer" button)???
