tilt motor

72 omc sterndrive electric shift 225 HP. Tilt motor will not raise o/d. I removed tilt motor. Can the o/d be raised by hand with out the motor in . mine won't. So is it the clutch. Thanks Rich

If the motor is out, and you can't raise or lower the drive by hand; that's the way it's supposed to work. If you're getting good power to the motor and the motor checks out as working properly, I would make sure the hammer coupler is completely there and that the worm gear is in good shape.

Thanks do I pull the clutch to check the worm gear I have a new motor hammer looks good to me still in 1 piece. Thanks Rich

No need to pull the clutch. Hammer coupler is 4 pieces total (if I remember right - at least two): two sides to the coupler, a key and a spring.

Hammer blow is good 4 pieces in tact.
