Got a wiring question.... I took photos of the hookups when I picked up the motor but lost them when my phone crashed. Bummer.

Question is how does the TnT unit wire up?

So I get that the big wires are the battery hook ups for it. But then there is this stray green wire.

These wires would be up at the dash and some/all were connected to a switch on the dash.

Then I've got this small black wire that comes from the lift cylinder on passenger side, tucks between the motor and is zip tied on the opposite side. It has a terminal clip on it.

I'm thinking that I may have some extra wires being run up to the dash. But hope some is familiar with the wiring.

The actual wiring diagram for your engine is found in the first thread at the top of the first page. Called the "top secret files" Unfortunately, the age of the engine indicates that the trim unit was probably sold to the original customer as a parts add-on item. So it's not part of the engine wire harness diagram, as with later engines. The only place you'll find it is in the original factory service manual. If you go to the factory exploded parts diagram website, you will find the parts diagram for that trim assy. It's not found on the engine. Look under the accessories tab for that year and you'll find it in the electrical accessory section. It will give you an idea of what parts are used, but not necessarily the direct connection info you are seeking.

The small black wire is for a trim gauge.----No need to worry about it for now.-------Do you have the proper solenoid for this.--------Solenoid is used for the " Up " function only.

No solenoid came with it. It was just a 3 position switch on the dash that I removed and this bundle of wires that ran to the back.

No Title

So looking at the diagram there are three terminal clips and maybe a ground that goes to the dash switch. I'm thinking that black, white and purple wire are those three terminal clips that were hooked to that switch?

There needs to be a solenoid in the "up" circuit. If you just run everything through your trim switch, it will survive all your "down" commands. After a short time, the "up" side of the switch will burn out. Too much current. Best to wire the solenoid in that "up" circuit, for long-term reliability of that switch.

The solenoid is not shown for the 55 hp models in the parts book.---It is shown for V-4 models for those years,.

I had one years ago. Here is a pic that you might be able to blow up to see some color connections. This had a solenoid.

fetch

I seem to recall the purple wire ran to the solenoid for the up positive, been quite a while though.

Racerone, looks like you are correct. No solenoid for the 55 hp model. Looks like the solenoid started with the 70 hp and up models.

I figured it out. You touch enough wires together and something is bound to happen. Lol
