So I got to thinking, the other day I was parked on a beach with my boat, had my engine at full up trim to keep the lower unit from hitting the ground when waves come in. We were parked there for about 4 hours. Is it bad to keep your engine at full up trim like that? It cant be good on the carbs being upside down essentially. Will this cause any damage to my engine or cause my carbs to drain out?

Re: Tilt Question

Other than maybe draining the carbs I don't see that it can hurt anything, there is no oil in the engine to run out and the tilt doesn't care where it is so I would say no, nothing you can hurt.

Agree with 5150. Just a few extra squeezes on the primer bulb to refill the carbs and you won't be crankin as much.

no damage. as said if you carbs drain, you can always disconnect fuel line, then reconnect before starting.

Re: Tilt Question

No harm to be done but on both of my mid 90's Mercury motors, when the 2 stroke oil tank is real full, the tank leaks out the vent and make a mess in the splashwell, it will drain the tank nearly completely by siphon effect if let be.
The cure is just not to fill the oil tank to the last inch or so. I also had a Force 70hp that would drain the carbs and drip gas into the splashwell. Anything that goes into the splashwell, also drains into the water.
