Tilt remote switch

I have a Johnson 40hp model #J40TLEUC. I can’t get the tilt switch to work on the control (works great from the button on the motor) and I can’t get the gauge to work.

Any tricks to figure out what’s going on?

Has it ever worked, or is it new to you?
You might look under the engine cowling and see if the remote trim switch is connected. Look for blue/white and green/white wires. Trace the wires from the engine switch and see if they meet.
