Tilt stopped working and Speedometer in same day?

This is my first boat so I am not an expert, but in the same day this happened.<br /><br />My speedometer is sitting at zero and the trim won't go up. I can press the Trailer button and the engine comes all the way up though, so It sounds like an electrical issue?<br /><br />1991 Larson 170 All-American<br />Merccruiser Sterndrive.<br /><br />Can you guys give me some pointers on where to start looking?<br /><br />Thanks,<br />ScAndal

Find the 2wire lead coming into the boat that looks like lamp cord.There are 2 plug connectors(both female)on the forward side.Jumper these and try your trim switch.If it works you have a bad trim limit sw. on the gimble ring.The speedo has a pick up hole on the forward edge of the drive.Take a small wire and see if it's plugged.Also check the hose near the shift lever on the drive in the full up position.
