Things are gettin weird. Im tryin to remove shorted drive motor on PTT . I have removed center piston pin ,removed 3 bolts on each side of transom bracket the whole hydralic unit is now loose , but i still cannot remove from inside bracket in order to get to back phillips head screw of moter to pump.any ideas? :confused:

DogFoot..... On that model (and a few others), it is necessary to remove (slide it sideways out of the way) the port transom bracket. Make sure that the engine is supported solidly so that it can not drop or move sideways before unbolting that bracket.

Joe I guess im not following or understanding the removin of the port transom bracket ,can you clarify ,sorry for the cofussion ,this is new to me you can contact me at hvac@astros.com

DogFoot.... The transom bracket is the engine mounting bracket that bolts the engine to the boat. Viewing the engine as standing in back of it, you would need to remove (slide it sideways) the left (port) transom bracket. You would do this by removing the left (port) steering tube nut, and the two bolts/nuts that are securing it to the transom. You won't need to slide it sideways very far, just enough to clear the PTT assy.
