tilt-trim '93 40 Force goes up won't come down

Help..
My 40hp Force goes up but won't come down. Was Issac Newton wrong? The hydrolic fluid seems to have been low and I will refill it today. My understanding is that the motor needs to be elevated when doing this...I can do thta easily. Is all that I need to do is open the large fill cap and put non detergent SAE 10 w 30 or 40 motor oil in? What if that that doesn't work?

Sounds like one of your solenoids may have gone bad. Pop the hood and switch them, then see if the motor powers down and not up. If so, pick up another solenoid. Both must be connected for the system to work. Let us know what happens.

Hey Capt. You were correct. It was the solenoid. Cost me 24 bucks and I did it myself; the tilt trim is working. It was easy once I knew what to look for. Thanks for the big help. That was great!
