Hi all,
New to the forum here. Glad I found this one!
My motor is skipping all the way down when I lower it. It isn't happening all the time, just sometimes.
I just bought the boat about three weeks ago and have been going over it with a fine tooth comb. Changed the water pump, plugs, gear oil, etc. before I take her out this weekend. The previous owner had the same issue and took it in for service. According to the service record, the shop 'drained and refilled' the fluid and it still did the bouncing thing.
I have read about purging the air, but I am a nut about making sure the procedure is right, especially with my new (to me) boat!
Can anyone post any directions on how to do this procedure AND what type of tilt/trim fluid to use? Some say use ATF fluid, some say power steering fluid, some say hydraulic fluid. The manual really doesn't say and I haven't bought the official service manual (yet!).
Thanks in advance!
Dean
