I have a 1986 Johnson 70 hp (J70elcdc) that i want to put tilt/trim on. I have someone with an 87' Evinrude 90 (E0tlcur). My question is: Can i swap the bracket from the 90hp to the 70 for the Tilt?trim? Is there an smarter/easier option? If this is possible it would save me a ton of $$. Thanks in advance, JB.

boats.net will list all interchangeable parts. You could consider a CMC trim unit as well.

Thanks glengold. It looks like it wont interchange. I can't afford a CMC tilt/trim these days...trying to improvise ..lol. My buddy has a CMC bracket he said I could have but it needs an actuator and relays ect.. In the end I will nearly spend as much as i would for a new unit. Any ideas? Anyone out there with a "7050" CMC actuator?? I can rig my own relays and switches if need be.

maybe your buddy is wrong and it just needs the relays. I bought some from NAPA for 15 bucks each, then found some online for 2.50. Needless to say I returned the NAPA ones when the online ones came in the mail :) check amazon.com I can't afford a new CMC trim either.

No, unfortunately it is the motor. CMC wants over $300 for it alone. Seems like there should be an alternative to the "factory" actuator. I wonder if anyone out there has used a different actuator/motor on the CMC bracket?
