Tilt/Trim compatibility for a 235HO Johnson

To start, the motor is a 1982 Johnson 235, model number J235TXCNE.

Picked up a 24' Answer Marine hardtop project, which has the aforementioned 235 sitting on it. It actually runs, believe it or not.

However, the trim motor is shot on the tilt/trim setup. Its rusted out. The engine has been tilted partially up for who knows how long now - long before I got the boat. I have a feeling that this particular tilt/trim setup is beyond repair, and I'm looking for a used replacement. (The pin holding the tilt cylinder to the engine is rusted badly. No idea how I am going to remove it, because the engine is tilted in such a way that I can't get to the pin with anything to drive it out; assuming it will even come out when I can get to it. The manual release screw is broken; there is no good way to turn it. And the bolts holding the bottom on the trim unit to the engine swivel bracket have all broken off.)

I'm not even sure that, even if I replaced the trim motor, this system would actually work.

Assuming I can actually get the current tilt/trim system removed somehow, does anyone know what years and engine HP sizes are compatible with this one?

Thanks!

If nobody comes along with a direct answer you can look at shop2.evinrude.com. Find your engine and then look around for ones with tilt/trim units that are the same. OMC often changed part numbers for no apparent reason, so it's possible that there are units out there with a different part number that will be functionally identical. The good news is that they used the same tilt/trim units on a wide variety of engines.
