Thanks for reading my thread. I am having a issue w/ my outboards tilt trim, motor will raise but will not go down? Does anyone know what may cause this? It started to have a issue where when I was launching and put it in reverse at very low speed off trailer, the motor would just slam down to its lowest possition, that had happened a few times when fishing, then just one day it would not lower at all, just stayed in the up possition??? It has noise like it wants to lower but it just dosent move? Goes up fine? after having pushed the engine into a lower driving possition to get back in. Put it on the trailer, raised the motor, got to the top of the ramp into a parking spot, tried to lower the motor and it just would not go down? I have a ticking noise like its recing power from the tilt trim button, but its just a tick tick tick, no other motor noise or effort of motor trying to lower?

Thanks for your help or advise. If its a motor does anyone have a general cost of replacement???:(

try putting in a new pair of relays. they are a generic part that you can buy for dirt cheap from auto supply or ebay (aka bosch style headlight relay). It's under $20 and will probably fix your problem. Worth a try.
