I have a Johnson 120 VRO circa '86. The tilt/trim has worked with intermittent failures up until today. Motor tilted down, slower and slower, then came to rest 1/4 down. Now when I push either button I hear (the relay?) click, but nothing happens at the pump. No sound from there at all. Plenty of battery power, as the motor cranks vigourously. Any ideas before I head off to the mechanics?

Re: Tilt/Trim died

I would say one of the relays shorted out. It happened to mine. I pulled the relays and took them to the auto parts store and they matched them up and gave me 2 new ones. Popped them both in and it worked like new again. I thought it was funny that one relay could go bad and neither up nor down would work but thats what happened. Hope it helps. :)

Re: Tilt/Trim died

Thanks Formula1974. Oddly enough, the tilt started working for me today. It cut after a while. I now think it's the brushes as a few light taps on the motor body gets it to go again. Looks like I'll have to try and get that out and have a look. I appreciate the suggestion. Cheers
