Tilt/Trim fluid

Hope everyone is enjoying Memorial Day. I fixed :D (Oh happy day) my tilt/trim leaking down problem with a $.39 O-ring from NAPA. When I removed the check valve from the motor SOME of the fluid leaked out of course. The fluid was almost clear. My question is do I refill with dextron II like I have seen posted or hyd. jack oil like the NAPA guy suggested or I read while searching a few minutes ago that someone used 10w30 in a Force? This is a '87 Force 125. If the fluid in there now is not dextron will it hurt to mix fluids, if so how do I drain all the fluid out to start over?
Thanks

Re: Tilt/Trim fluid

If what leaked out doesn't look like trans. fluid, I wait until I knew for sure what to use. It might use motor oil.

c/6

Hooty

Re: Tilt/Trim fluid

Hey thanks guys. Now to refill, will all the old fluid drain out from the lower plug (that has the needle valve) with the motor in the down position? Or is there another way to drain? Will it hurt to mix 30wt with whatever fluid is in there now?

Thanks
