Hello, semi-new to the forum (only posted a few times) I have a 1978 Johnson 115hp V4. My tilt/trim setup is the older solenoid type. My problem is that when I push the trim/tilt switch down all I get is a slight bump of the T/T motor but now downward movement. When I push the T/T switch UP I can hear the T/T motor energize and the engine tilts up as i should. I have the factory service manual for my specific motor and followed the electrical troubleshooting procedure for the DOWN circuit to the letter. Solenoid junction box, with my meter leads on the appropriate terminals, I get battery voltage when push switch UP and only 2.7 VDC when switch is pushed down. I did take all of the wires off the junction box and shied up the terminals with emery cloth to rule out a bad connection in the box. The TT switch is housed in the handle of a brand new BRP Remote control unit, so I'd like to think it was factory tested and good. Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated

The wires on the trim/tilt push button in the throttle handle usually have a splice in them near the handle, but often behind the panel or in the control box (whichever you have). I would recommend you find this splice and clean it. You can also check the switch action with an ohmmeter. Neither up or down should have any resistance.
