1993 Mercruiser 4.3L Alpha 1 Gen 2.
When I got my boat in Dec 2008 the tilt trim motor was inoperable. It was totally corroded and most of the hardware, bus bar, fuse and relays were replaced with new units.
I took the boat out last weekend and had an intermittent problem with bringing the drive up. Not really a problem I figured, I just jumped it from hot to the up wire and up she went.
When I got home and took it apart, I found the harness that connects the helm up/down switch to the relays was COMPLETELY BURNT! It was so hot that it actually bubbled and melted a corner of each of the relays.
Yikes, it could have been a very bad day. Now I'm going through ALL of the electrical systems on this boat again.
How do I find the part number for this part of the harness (the connector, and the blue, green and red wires)?
How do I bench test the relays to be sure they are still OK?
