Rebuilding my 1985 alumacraft which has a 35 hp mercury outboard on it. The tilt and trim hoses have lost all of the black coating that is normally on them. After looking at a few places to replace all 4 is going to be relatively expensive for me. Is this coating needed or is there a less expensive DIY option? The hoses are in good shape and everything works fine in regards to the tilt and trim. Just trying to save a few bucks. Thanks in advance.
