Tilt/Trim Hydraulic Pump Problems-Need Help

I have a problem with tilt/trim on a 1984 115hp V4 evinrude outboard.

The tilt won't go up and down. I believe there is air trapped in the system as I opened the bypass valve and air shot out prior to some fluid.

Filled it up. Motor runs strong.

I thought these trim assemblies were self-bleeding but I think that is not the case.

Is there a procedure for these tilt/trims to bleed the air out?

thanks

Re: Tilt/Trim Hydraulic Pump Problems-Need Help

Steps:

Boat on level ground, make sure that the manual release valve is closed and torqued to specs;

Raise the motor and support it;

Open the fill plug, add fluid until it runs out, replace the plug and tighten;

Release the support, then cycle the motor up and down several times;

Repeat entire process until no more fluid can be added.

You will need to manually add whatever help is needed to move the motor while cycling up and down. .
