Tilt Trim problems

I have a tilt trim motor for a 75 hp evinrude. The trim motor is only 1 year old, and has been flawless during all my duck hunting and fishing trips. I went teal hunting today and the motor ran great and the trim motor worked perfectly. Although when I got home I went to tilt the motor up so I could get the transom saver off and the motor wouldn't tilt upward at all. However when I pushed the down button the motor kicked on just fine and wanted to go down (if the transom saver weren't in the way it would have moved down). Not sure what is going on, no visible leaks coming from the resevoir tank, all wires seem to be connected upon visual inspection, and when the up button is pushed not even a click sounds happens as if the fuse is blown. So any suggestions from anyone out there????

theres 2 solenoids, one is bad, swap one with the other and it will work in opposite direction. most solenoids are interchangable. bring one with you to advance,pep boys etc and match it up for cheaper way to get it back working

Could also have a bad t/t button or a loose wire. Trouble shoot the system before replacing parts.

I should also mention that I installed a new silenoid about a year ago as well. What is the usual life span of a tilt trim silenoid? And is it common for silenoids to go out after a year? Also would a bad silenoid allow the motor to trim down but not up?

Well the problem is fixed. I was able to get the transom saver off and trim the motor all the way down. When I began to repeatedly push the trim tab up, the motor miracuously trimmed all the way up and kept working. I also found out that for a 1980 75 hp evinrude there is only one silenoid that is remotely mounted seperate from the outboard engine. Upon talking to a friend I found out that the silenoid has a spring in it, and he mentioned that he has come across a few silenoids that after sitting for a period of time, the spring in the silenoid can build up a film like substance on it, which can cause the T/T motor to fail to raise the engine up. However once it works, keep raising and lowering the motor and that film will break up and go away. Never heard of this before, but the problem is fixed and i learned something new.
