I am looking for a little help from the Mercruiser experts. I am working on a 1972 Searay 240 with twin GM 165 straight six?s and the serial numbers on the outdrives and engines are long gone.
The project I am working on is both tilt/trim motors are dead. They are a single solenoid per pump system.
First, I ordered replacement pump motors (Sierra pn 18-6763) and they are very similar but, as you can see in the first two pictures the new housing is a bit different where the pigtails are attached comparing it to the old housing. The old housing uses an isolator block that is connected to the housing with two screws and the new housing does not have a lug to attach a second screw to.
I know this can?t be a one off thing and I have spent a few hours on goggle trying to find any mention of the change or what people are doing for these newer style pumps for a replacement.
I am also looking for the white isolator block that has the 4 wires coming out of it and the red plug (both male and female) as they are badly corroded.
Next, when I separated the reservoir from the motor a ball bearing dropped out. I have no idea where it came from or if it?s supposed to be in there.
Last but not least, I have been un-able to find a rebuild kit for the actual pump itself. As you can see from the pictures, the inside of the reservoir is pretty nasty and I am sure that gunk got inside the pump too.
