Hello Everyone:

I reciently aquired a 1977 Searay Sunrunner with the Mercruiser 188 I/O. It runs great but is a little cold hearted when I want start it.
Yesterday, I was going to start it and realized the battery could use a charge so I hooked up the battery charger and gave it about 60 minutes and the engine started right up. But the Tilt and trim no longer functioned. It was working right before I hooked up the battery charger to charge the battery. The solenoid would click when I would try to go up on the tilt, but not a sound when down. Now the Solenoid will not even make a clicking sound when the Up is pushed. I removed the solenoid and am planning to replace it. But anyone else have any Ideas. I know it was working great before I hooked up the battery charger to the battery and gave it a charge. I was wondering if possible the battery charger fried something.
Any ideas or help would be much appreciated.

Thanks
Bill

Re: Tilt Trim Question

There is a FUSE holder on some, and FUSES ( not like a regular fuse ) looks like a red button but doesn't do anything. I would suggest a test light and a wiring diagram ( can google.com mercruiser tilt wiring ) and get a pick.. Charging the battery will have no effect on the trim. ( unless you removed a wire or disturbed a wire ) make sure the connections are tight and clean. Could be a loose RING Terminal ( on the end of the wire ).
