Adding tilt/trim to my 1986 85 H.P. Force. I don't see an obvious place to mount the relays under the cowling on the engine. I know they need to be close to the solenoid to get 12V. Is it a good idea to maybe mount them in the well by the battery? Anyone have pictures of where they mount, thanks!

You can mount them back to back on the bottom of the starter motor using one of the starter motor mounting bolts. Or, you can use two of the exhaust cover bolts to mount them near the terminal board. Or, you can drill the lower cowling in the front. Or, you can just let them hang loose.

The photo shows a couple of relays that I took out of an automobile and they had steel mounts. Stock relays will use the same principal but you may need to fabricate a slightly longer steel mount for them. Definitely will need one if they use the plastic ears to mount.

Mine have the steel tab mounts, so I may try the starter bolt or the exhaust cover bolts, thanks Frank
