Tilt/Trim Relay

Can both (up & down) relays have intermitent problems or do they just die altogether? Fixing the leak down problem yesterday motor would go up OK but not down, had my daughter toggle the switch and I tapped the relay and down it went. Then same with the up. When I tapped on the relay it worked, no tap, no work. Replace both?<br /><br />Thanks,

Yes replace them. If they are socketed into a fuse block like device, you might also consider pushing them in and out of the socket repeatedly (maybe with a bit of wd-40) to wipe clean any corosion on the connectors and also adding a bit of electrical connector grease (dialectric tune up grease) to the new pins before insertion.

jr, had the same problem with my 90hp johnson. ended up replacing both relays fro $13 a piece and have not a problem since.
