Tilt & Trim Release

I picked up an old Wellcraft with an Evinrude 90 on it. I need to identify the year of the motor (looks to me to be between late 70s and mid 80s) but I can’t get the cover off because the tilt & trim are in the up position and the outside SN plate is missing. Is their a manual release for the T &T and if so where is it?

There should be a slotted manual release valve at the base of the PT/T pump. Unscrew it a turn or two. You just need a big screwdriver. There might be an access hole in one of the transom clamps to access it.

Thanks WillyBWright. Could it possibly be a 9/16 bolt on the left side that goes through the motor bracket to the base of the pump? If so can I use heat to free it as it seams to be seized?

Re: Tilt & Trim Release

The picture I'm looking at shows it on the right (starboard) side, in the large casting which has the electric motor on the left side and the odd shaped resivoir on the right side. It is on the side with the resivoir, just below the base of the resivoir. Access through the bracket as said. I don't think it is as big as 9/16. I certainly would'nt advise heat.

Got It thanks F R. I didn’t see it because of the Mud Bobber nest covering the hole.

Well that’s seized too. But I wiggled the cover past the back of the splash well and got it off but I don’t see an ID plug with Model and Serial Number on it, which is why I was trying to release the T&T to start with. Thanks for all the help
