Merc 150hp 1996 model 2 stroke: Tilt trim cylinder leaking at the top. Although a somewhat mild leak. Motor lifted a couple of times and did not want to go down, eventually it always came down. I added fluid and noticed I have water infiltration as well, seems to be working better now, but I know I need to replace the seals. HOW difficult is it to replace these seals?

Re: Tilt Trim seals

Anyone ever replace Merc tilt trim seals? What can I expect, I have manual, should I attempt or take it in?

Re: Tilt Trim seals

I'm just keeping this post alive as I also will need to replace the trim seals on my '87 150 XR2 at the end of this season. I have one trim cylinder which seeps, I have to bleed and refill it once a month. I'm guessing I should do all three cylinders at the same time? BD

It's not hard but you will need 2 dirrent spanner wrenchs to remove the rod ends on the cylinders.

Does someone sell the appropriate spanner wrenches? They don't appear to be too hard to make. Where to order the replacement seals? I've found lots of pumps and cylinders listed but no seal kits so far. BD
