Should this be an easy fix? Looking at buying my first tilt/trim boat which is an '03 but the switch on the throttle isn't working. The one on the motor works perfect.......anyone ever need to change one?

On my Proline, the excess wire was drooping down into bilge water and eroded away. I just had to cut the excess length and splice it. It has been working fine since that time.

The important thing is that the T & T works good. Don't sweat the switch and wiring. You can get that down later. Use it as a bargining tool...

Since it doesn't work in either direction, my bets are the switch is ok and the 12V feed to that switch is missing or else the main harness connections (the big plug) at the engine needs cleaning. Pull it apart and reconnect several times. Bet it comes to life. Otherwise, a voltmeter is your best friend in these situations. Armed with that and a schematic you can locate the problem in minutes.

I had a broken wire inside the handle on mine. A little solder and heat shrink and everything is fine.

Well, I pulled it apart and everything looks ok. I was messing around with the test light & hooked to a ground, I touched inside the switch and it worked. I'm guessing its not being grounded?? Any idea's? I'm not sure what to do next. Thanks again!

Found it! Is was the wiring behind the throttle assy. I guess salt water got to it and the plug conectors fell apart. I'm going to look for some waterproof ones so it never happens again.
