I want to install another tilt/trim switch on the back of our Tahoe and wondered if there would be any harm in mounting it under the swim platform. I'd kind of like for it to be out of the way and the only time I'll probably use it is when it's on the trailer. I bought the switch at Bass Pro and it says it's waterproof but I don't know if it's waterproof enough to put under there. Thanks for your help

How about above the waterline towards a top corner of the stern. You can place it anywhere if it is waterproof and on the swim platform may be the "acid" test.

Are you sure it says "waterproof"? The switch I bought from T-H Industries is advertised as weatherproof; not waterproof. For that reason, I'm mounting mine on the the horizontal surface at the very back of my boat where it will be protected by a little teak rail. That ought to keep accidental button pushes to a minimum and still keep seawater off the switch.

I didn't find much selection when it comes to those switches. Everybody who sold them seemed to sell the same brand.

I'd put it above waterline for sure. Even if it's waterproof now nothing lasts forever. I'd also suggest putting it on a vertical surface so it can't trap water. Put it below the rub rail in a recessed area to avoid accidental button pushes.
Also look inside the boat to make sure you mount if in a place where the wiring won't interfere with whatever is inside there.
