I hope I'm putting this under the right category, if not, I do apologize...
I'm having some pretty vexing trouble with my tilt trim motor. I have a '94 Bayliner Capri 1800 with a '94 Force 120 HP outboard. I might as well start with the embarrassing beginning - in my rush to get the boat together and ready for the first weekend out, I hooked the battery up backwards (ugh). Anyway, that ended my old starter. Had a new one put on at a shop, got it back and the upward trim function won't work. Down still works, up gives me a solenoid click. So, being impulsive, I order a new trim motor and two new relays. I'm having a hard time getting the trim motor to seal well at the base (I'll begrudgingly tackle that in a bit), but the big problem I'm having is that the trim control still isn't responding as it should. But if I shuffle the relays back and forth (both new), a different function (up or down) will work. Whichever one doesn't work gives me a solenoid click but nothing else. I'm lost at this point. Anybody have any advice on where to turn next?
Thanks in advance,
Dustin
