are you sure the motor works?if so,have you tested the switch?otherwise I see no reason as long as your connections are good and tight,

the switch should be fine cuz i here the silonoid clicking so it most be good im guessing the motor must be shot just anuther head eck to this f'ed off projet of mine fun fun fun well thanks guys

I would check the motor.

Connect the ground and one other wire from the motor..... the tilt motor "should" operate in one direction or another.

Now check the other wire......

See if the motor is operating in both directions.

The switch is easy to diagnose with an ohm meter.

What motor is this on? Year?

its a 1973 johnson 135 ive tryed this heres a pic of what ive done and the motor did not work at all just sparked really bad and almost welded it self to the + on the batry

you were telling the motor to spin in both directions at same time. nothing + arc welding is what it should do when wired like that. If you hold it that way long enough you may even get to see flames shoot out of it.

no i tested them at differant times not at the ame time red wire first and then blue wire after

then either your windings have worn through their insulation of the cover bolt is shorting out against the center tap. Either way, it's a rebuild/replace scenario.

Well a trim motor rebuild kit is available but it is a PITA on the older ones.

Ebay has many trim motors (china trim motors) and all you need is a 3 wire motor

ya i found some on ebay for like 45 bucks witch is not bad at all but i need to by a new starter first cuz well the boat needs one to work and that is what i need to spend my money on also found one on ebay that is a china one for like 70 bucks brand new so just saving my pennys
