coming out of the trim moter are a red wire a black wire and a blue wire blue might be green??? and a small black wire wraping around the outside of the 3 wires i think this is ground

that is all spliced into a 3 wire thing that hooks up to the taggal switch the wires on that are red/white strip green/white strip then blue/ white strip where do the wires go

they had the red coming from the trim motor to the green and white
the big black wire from the trim moter going to the - batery
the blueish green to the blue and white wire
the ground wire withch im guessing is the small black wire was not even hooked up
and the red/white strip wire thats coming from the tagal was hooked up to the batery+ ,,,,,,,,,,,, whats going on its not working and im sure thats it any help whould be killer

Click the thumbnail, please. The small black wire is for the trim gauge; it runs to the trim cylinder.

The PT&T originally had a box with the battery connection and solenoid that was mounted on the transom or near it.

The solenoid allowed you to use a lightweight switch and wire at the helm without overloading the wiring and switch.

The best setup is to have two solenoids or two relays or a single reversing solenoid.

I marked up a diagram for using two solenoids. You can find 12 volt solenoids for as little as $15. each, and reversing solenoids for around $40.

get some jumper cables and go straight to the motor to verify if you want to verify system. Battery ground to thick black wire and battery positive to red. If your system is working then it will go up. When you hook positive to green it will go down. When you hook positive to red and negative to green then it will smoke and catch on fire. It is a lot of amps and it might spark or get hot without the solenoids and relays so be careful and use solid connections ... maybe even one of those remote starter switches that auto mechanics use.
