Tilt trim working Intermittently after electronic ignition install

Not sure if this is related or not, but almost immediately after installing a pertronix electronic ignition on my 89 3.0 140 with alpha 1 outdrive my tilt trim stopped working. If I jump either the up or down solenoid to the battery the motor works and I am able to use the switch again. I have verified that the switch is functioning properly and have been through all the connections. All I can think is it may have something to do with purple wire I had to wire to the coil..

The trim system and the engine electrics are completely separate. There should be no influence one to the other.

Check the connections, power and ground, for clean and tight.

It's just off how I can always jump the connection and immediately get back control at the switch

main power for the solenoids is from the #6 Red and Black wires. From the main buss bar is a small Red wire with a inline fuse , this carries the power to the handel switch to operate the solenoids.
