My son just purchased a newer Bayliner hull. His older modle Force 85 hp
motor has a different way of hooking up to the transom ( a much older
method). What options does he have? I apoligize for my lack of knowledge
regarding boating terminology. Regards, old jim

Re: Tilt & trim

I am not quite sure of your question so I will take the tack that you have a newer Bayliner with a newer Force that either was installed and removed or is currently installed and needs to be replaced for whatever reason. model years of boats and engines would be nice but: Older Force engines used a C-clamp type engine mounting clamp that was screwed tight to the transom. Slightly newer ones used bolts passing through the clamp and transom. Newest Merc type used a different bolt pattern. NONE of this matters! If the bolt holes line up, use them. If they don't, then fill and seal them, and drill new ones to fit the engine.

Steering should hook up the same, however, depending upon engine differences, control cables for throttle and shift may need to be changed--perhaps only the engine ends may need changing.

Electrical cable from the dashboard and battery should be similar in all engines.

Exactly Frank, the motor is a bolt to, as opposed to a bolt through.
