First time poster, 1998 Mercruiser 4.3 Alpha one outdrive.
Trim works fine going down, When i trim up it goes about one third
of the way and then stops and won't any go any higher. It was all
the way up when i bought the boat, this week. IT acts as though
it has a limit switch and just cuts out. The trim pump does not continue
to run. I have no manual or paper work on this boat. What do i check
first? Thanks for any help, Randy

Re: Tilt & Trim

Look for a button called trailer of tilt it will raise the drive the rest of the way. Watch out because its not recommended to run the engine with the drive tilted past the trim limits.

Re: Tilt & Trim

You have a trim button and possibly a tilt button or trailer button depending on type of control. Either way, the trim button only brings it up in the trim range and the trailer/override button brings it up the rest of the way. If you post a picture of your control, we can show you where it's at.

Thanks fellow's
I feel so stupid. Problem solved, trailer button. In my defence this is my first
sterndrive; my bass boat outboard does not have this feature. I guess my first
post has well overpaid me the cost to join this forum.
Thanks again
Randy
