1989 - 70HP Evinrude. I pulled the boat out from the winter storage, hooked up the batteries and raised the motor to put the holder back in position. When I went to let the motor back down, it does nothing. Now it wont go up or down. Motor turns over to start, but tilt/trim wont work. I have checked the fuses. ANy ideas? I dont have a manual and I am trying to find a manual for this motor. Any suggestions where to find manuals.?

Re: Tilt Trim

Does it make any noise when trying to work up or down? Any clicking or anything?

Give us a few more details on the problem.

Also check the bottom of the page for your manual, but here's the link to it.

Check out the first one. It covers your year and HP.
Manual

emtmedic99
If the T&T motor does not make any noise while attepting to lower it, but does in the up position, remove the cowl and look for 2 relays(Square Black Boxes) on the starboard side of the engine. Swap these relays out and see if it lowers. If it does, you have a bad relay. If not, it's could be a bad T&T switch or wiring problem. Let us know.....

Re: Tilt Trim

IT does nothing from the motor or the throttle handle. I raised it up and was getting the transom saver hooked up and went to let it back down and it did nothing. I hear no noises or clicking, it is like it is dead, battery is hot, fuses are good. Check a few more things. It clicks when you push the up button, but when you push down it makes a buzzing noise.
