1995 70hp evinrude. any suggestions on how to go about swapping the tube. rusted in pretty good and started trying to get it moving. But to remove it since it is the only support for the whole motor am i going to have to remove the motor from my boat to do it or is there some way to support the motor in the correct spot while its on the boat.

Anyone done this before? How did you go about it?

Thanks in advance for the help

I think you need to hang the motor, by it's flywheel or block to replace the tilt tube....

You can do that if you live in a fresh water area but don't try it in a salt water area. BRP makes a service kit 434523 to change this tube but I've never used it.

You may have to take a little pressure off of the tube with either a hoist or a jack under the skeg.
