tilt tube wear...repair?

The tilt tube on my outboard has some slop. I do not have power tilt/trim. It is too old for that. What normally wears first, the tube or the mount itself. Am I going to need a new mount? I hate to take this thing apart if I need a new mount. If I need a mount, where can I get one?

Some of them have plastic inserts that keep the metal from wearing. If yours does, the plastic pieces might need replacing.

...or you could drill it out and install bushings.
