Hi.

I have a 90hp Johnson 4 stroke. After a lot of fun I've removed and replaced various parts of the tilt/trim unit. I went to fit it back in and noticed up and down wasn't working on the outboard switch. I saw a wire had come off the switch and got it to work by touching the wire back where it snapped.
It went up and down so I then fit everything back onto the transom. Then, tried the switch again and only down was working. Same on the controls switch so it's not just the switch on the outboard.
Any idea what could be going on for up to not even make a sound?

Cheers

Is the limit switch jammed or damaged, Like if it thinks the motor is right up it wont even make the relay click .

Now the switch on the outboard is functional for both. Only the switch in the controls that isn't going up

hold the up or down switch in ON position and start poking wiggling wires till you get a reaction. if the cowl switch works current is passing the trim limit switch used only for UP limiting.. since both up and down don't work up from up front check all wiring especially in bends. B+ normal shares both up&down switches so it is possible B+ is not reaching the switches
