I am installing a new tilt tube in a evinrude 115. I read how to do this on a few different sites but I would like advice form the experts here. I saw 2 suggestions. one is to take the bracket off and the other is to leave it all togther and slip the new tube in as the old one comes out. Any ideas here?

Re: tilt

I've always done with the engine off and hanging so that I could disassemble the bracket.

makes sense to me...then I could make sure the bushings are good..I just wasnt sure if it was a lot easier to sneak it in...being new to this..is this a very complicated fix in your opinion?

Re: tilt

By having it hanging you take all the pressure off the parts you're going to replace.
