Time for New Prop

Time to replace my well worn prop. My current Standard prop is 9.5 x 10 pitch on my 1985 Jonhson 15HP. I ordered a Johnson 9.25x9 pitch for a replacement. Dropping down 1 pitch should help a tad with heavy loads.

A Canoe is a Displacement Hull, and I suspect that 15 hp is far more than it actually needs. A six hp would likely push it just very slightly slower than the 15. Displacement Hulls take very little power to push, up to a point, at that point quadrupling the hp, will only increase the speed slightly, and by slightly, I mean less than 1/2mph.

19’ Grumman and 15HP outboards with lifts have been used for years in swift rivers in Alaska hauling moose out. This combination is a time proven match. The extra HP of the 15HP is much appreciated going back up stream.
