I am having a bit of difficulty in adjusting the timing on my Force. The slot on the adjusting screw faces towards the trigger assembly which makes it impossible to get to. Also, how much adjustment of the adjusting screw is neccessary to change the advancement or retarding of the timing. Also, setting timing to recommended 28* degrees BTDC is checked with engine running at proper idle speed correct?

I am surprised you have not gotten a reply on this. These people seem to be very good at telling us what we need to know. I wish I could help. My Seloc Manual is not too clear, and would like to have the same answer. I read somewhere that the book timing is not the best place to have it.
Good luck.

Mike

My book says 28* btdc for the Prestolite ignition.

Towershaft should be in the wide open, motor in gear, and timing is checked at "cranking rpm's". As in the engine is off, just cranking it over with the starter. You will have to take a wire and jump across the interlock switch to allow the starter to crank while in gear.

This should get it close.

Then you need to put the boat in the water or a test tank and check/verify the timing while running at full throttle.
