Currently, I have two boats. 1985 Sea Ray SRV300 twin 5.7L Mercruisers with Alpha 1 outdrives, in dry storage on blocks . 1993 Bayliner Classic 19' 3.0L Mercruiser with Alpha 1 Gen 2 outdrive, on a trailer.

In my Mercruiser manual for the 3.0L engine, it tells me to adjust the carb idle and idle mixture while at sea and in forward gear. My Mercruiser manual for my 5.7L engine does not state doing the adjustment at sea or not.

My questions are, should they both be done underway or it is not required for the 5.7L? If I set the 5.7L idle to 650 RPM out of the water, will it still be 650 RPM in the water?
Thank you in advance..

Re: Timing & Carb adjustment on mercs

The initial setting can be done on land, but the final settings should be done in the water......JK
