are there any way to time a 76 inline 6 115 hp without the timing decal. merc dealer said they discontinued the decals  . I have two flywheels without the timing decals. they are three dots on the right side to set the dist. pulley and one dot on the left for the .464 setting of the piston but no way setting the primary pick up or max. spark without guessing :( . I hope to crank this motor this week end although I may have to keep searching for another flywheel.<br />thanks

Re: timing decal

Yeah, I just found a friend with the same motor and I measured his decal, and made me a new one from scratch. I made my timing marks red, and the other marks black. Only took me about 5 minutes to make. Get you a good, super sticky, tape and stick next to good decal and transfer all hashmarks with a permanent marker.

Re: timing decal

Ron, I have a '77 150HP IL6, and my decal is just readable. If you know the part number you can do a google search on it. You might find an aftermarket source. Also there is a guy who specializes in inline 6 mercs. He may have a source for same. He posts on this forum and sells stuff on Ebay as "Clams Casino". Good luck
