timing help

merc 650/ 3 cylinder............mechanic says that something in the engine is wrong(part) and cant get it timed right............says it is at least 100deg off.....please help.....what part or condition could make it like this?????<br />thx in advance

not saying for sure but an old worn,loose timing beltcould cause it.it could have jumped time. start from scratch and re time it to spec.pist. tdc mark.to fly wheel ,f/w todist. pulley etc..<br />got a manual ??? get one it will help...also yr. of eng. would help.

1973 mercury 650 65 hp 2 stroke 3 cylinder.......mechanic says that everything looks good , just seems like one of the parts is wrong.....is this possible?
