Good morning,
I have a 1998 mercuries 350 EFI MPI
Engine Serial OL067176
Sterndrive OL153367

I will attempt to check my own timing this evening. Is there a bulletin on here that will help me? Also, what two wires do I need to bridge to put the engine in test mode?

I've been told to set at 10degree. Is that correct.

Re: Timing instructions

I finally fixed Newport Daves post from 2005 on how to make a timing tool for the MEFI engines.

http://forums.iboats.com/mercruiser...timing-tool-make-1-00-a-49800.html#post448079

ohw... That's useful (I did go through the manuals earlier tonight and tried to work out which pins got shorted together, but without an engine with MEFI on, it's hard to test)....... Anyway, I just printed it out and put it with my diagnostic software and a copy in the relevant service manuals.... Thanks Don... :D :D :D

Check had a look at the diagrams again... Just grounding the 'Diagnostic test terminal'... Too easy!

Re: Timing instructions

The Volvo service manuals showed which terminals to jump to set timing, Merc never did that as I recall, but they didn't show the LED trick to read the codes.
