Timing issue and filter change on 3.0

how hard is it to change the timing on the 3.0 its backfiring sometimes.Also i think i need to change the gas filter is there any site that has a schmatic on the engine.Thanks

You might want to tell us the year of the engine!! Saves a few guesses! I assume its a Mercruiser 3.0L?

Its a 90 merc 3.0

Which distributor do you have? The Delco EST distributor, or the Delco conventional with points?
